“A Tragic Mix of Choices”
We make choices everyday. Some are no big deal and have very little impact on our lives like what to wear or what to eat. Other choices not only impact our lives but the lives of others around us. The juniors and seniors had a chance to witness this at this year’s conference.
The SEMO Masters Commission and Seven Project were the guest speakers this year. These groups talk about different topics and for the conference they focused on making choices. The speakers told stories of their own choices they had made in their lives and how it had affected those they loved.
The Seven Project put on a great show! They pounded out the rhythm with crash cans and drum sticks.
The students then went outside to watch a crash scene docu drama. This year was a one car accident with fatalities.
When the students returned to the theater they watched a video showing the booking and sentencing of the drunk driver. They were reminded that yes there was one survivor but there were two that were not going to be going home.
The Task Force would like to thank everyone that helped with the conference. It was a team effort and the conference wouldn’t have happened without everyone’s help. Thanks to the Perryville Fire Department, Perryville Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Perry County Sheriff’s Department, Perry County Ambulance Service, the wrecker service, Perry County School District 32, St. Vincent High School, Miller Family Funeral Home, County Coroner, ARCH Medical Helicopter, Republic Monitor, POM Mahathath, Prosecuting Attorney, the Judge, Meyer Bus Line, University of Missouri Extension and Stan Cook and his class.
And thank you to the students that participated in the docu drama.
