In 2001 the CHAMPS Mentoring Program was expanded to offer services to youth who have dropped out of school.  Youth involved in the CHAMPS Out-of-School Program are enrolled in the GED program.  The focus of this group is to give support and guidance by helping youth believe in themselves, set goals, get job skills, and instruction on getting along with others.  If the youth attends 6 sessions of the CHAMPS Out-of-School Program and 12 GED sessions, a local service organization has agreed to pay for the GED registration charges. In 2002 transportation and childcare were added to enable more youth to attend this program.  Computer classes are available to assist youth with getting/keeping a job.  A contracted Mental Health Counselor is available for professional assistance.  Food and refreshments are also provided.
